Welcome Janie Walker!

Embrace Richmond would like to welcome the newest member of our staff, Janie Walker.  Janie is our Program Director as of the beginning of August and we are excited to have her join our team.

Janie has worked in several different areas of ministry such as community development, pastoral care, prayer and counseling.  She has been a pastor, a facilitator, a minister, a student and much more.  Now she is a mother and a grandmother who has a desire to see healing and wholeness in people and religious institutions.

As the Program Director at Embrace, Janie will be responsible for overseeing Embrace’s involvement in the communities we serve, as well as leading the volunteers in those communities.

“I feel like this is the place I’m suppose to be in this place in my journey,” Janie said.

Janie is a native of Sandston, Va.  She studied mathematics at Virginia State University for a year before beginning work as an Accounts Payable Supervisor at Phillip Morris, USA.  She then began working as a clergy person in several roles, while continuing her education at Virginia Commonwealth University, Central Virginia School of Ministry where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Biblical Studies and the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University where she earned a Masters of Divinity with a concentration in Theology.

We look forward to all the great work Janie and Embrace will be able to do in the coming year!
