Best Practices for Faith-Based Community Transformation
When: November 30- December 1, 2012
Where: Northminster Church/ 3121 Moss Side Ave/ Richmond, VA 23222
Come learn how your local congregations can effectively and sustainably partner with their neighbors for community transformation. We invite any pastor, staff person or lay leader feeling challenged by the realities of making a lasting community impact through your current local missions to join us for this important 2-day event. We will explore paradigm shifts to move from focusing on meeting needs to discovering the assets around us. We will discuss the theology behind these paradigm shifts, and then learn practical tactics and skills to assist you in joining where God is already at work in your neighborhoods. Wendy McCaig, Founder and Executive Director of Embrace Richmond, will share with us a wealth of experience from her years in community development around the Richmond area. If you are committed to “seeking the peace of the city” but wondering where to begin or how to improve your current community ministry, please join us.
This event is sponsored by the Virginia Baptist Mission Board in partnership with Embrace Richmond and Northminster Church, but all are welcome to attend. The cost of registration will be $60 for members of cooperating Virginia Baptist churches, $70 for all other registrants. This cost includes materials in addition to dinner on Friday, and breakfast and lunch on Saturday. For more information about registration, please contact Caitlin Figura, Coordinator of Christian Community Development for the VBMB, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
