We are pleased and grateful to announce the outcome of our 2017 Neighbor Power Campaign. We asked for your support starting on #GivingTuesday and you rallied with us all the way into the new year. To help us achieve this goal, our faithful friends from Financial Consultants of America are once again matching dollar-for-dollar the $15,000 in gifts we received from this campaign. Because of you, we met our goal of $30,000!

During the campaign, we highlighted the neighbor powered development taking place in the Historic Brookland Park area. We shared stories with you about amazing resident leaders, like Kevin Starlings and Leroy Jefferson, and they shared their hopes and dreams with you. In return, we felt each of your kind spirits and the warmth of a community. Your support came in all shapes and sizes – donations through our website, checks via snail-mail, words of encouragement, helping hands and lest we forget, the delicious appetizers, entrees, desserts and beverages at our End of Year Party.

Through prior listening projects in the Brookland Park area residents identified crime, a lack of social trustyouth unemployment and blight along the commercial corridor as the key issues facing their community. Through your generous donations, we will keep the momentum going in Brookland Park. We will continue to provide youth with paid internships, resident leaders with coaching and support, action teams with funding, and small businesses with micro-grants to hire local youth.

This success would not have been possible without your support and the support of your family, friends, congregations and colleagues. We look forward to celebrating the residents of Brookland Park with you in 2018.
