I feel really good about the shifts I’ve made so far in my ministry. I am optimistic about the difference this training will make for my work in the neighborhood.

I have been challenged to value people more and strive to meet them where they are. I learned how to work with others, not for them.

I have been actively involved in our church’s mission programs and want to support training to re-focus from feeding/giving to longer term community improvement efforts as pursued by Embrace Richmond.

One of the best ways that congregations can help strengthen communities, is to host a Mission Shift training for their members and community. Mission Shift training is custom designed to help your church assess its current missions approach, develop a strategy for how the church would like to engage in the future and develop action steps to help the church meet those goals. We offer a 2 hour ABCD overview session that is designed to introduce congregations to the concept of Asset-based Community Development (ABCD) as well as a 6 week training series designed to help congregations make the shift from doing ministry “for” those in need to do ministry “with” them.   To learn more about hosting a training, contact Wendy McCaig at wendy@embracerichmond.org.
