Embrace Richmond serves an average of 15 homeless and at-risk individuals per year through the Just Works program. Just Works program participants serve the community through our Community Action Teams and in the CARITAS Furniture Bank Program. As these participants are serving their community they receive a modest living allowance and education award. The Embrace Richmond staff and volunteers are also helping them to restore their own lives and prepare for permanent employment and in many cases the advancement of their education with the long-term goal of obtaining and maintaining self sufficiency.
Approximately 75% of the Embrace Richmond budget goes toward training, supervision and the payment of living allowances to these participants. We firmly believe that providing employment opportunities to those with barriers is the only way to permanently end homelessness and help individuals achieve self-sufficiency while restoring the human spirit and dignity.
